I'm unsure if the policy has changed in the past year regarding studying with multiple instructors, but I strongly feel that subsidies should apply to more than one lesson instructor (and if they do, this should be more clearly communicated to students). I had to discontinue lessons with one instructor two years ago after just one semester because the financial burden of a second set of lessons was too much to handle, despite the fact that I was playing both instruments in Departmental ensembles and improvement on both instruments was and continues to be integral to my development as a musician.

I am learning how to think on my feet and trust my instincts more. Over the course of this semester I have become more confident in my playing and better at pushing myself out of my comfort zone.

Matthew has been an amazing instructor and I look forward to every lesson I have with him. He is so encouraging and kind, and he is very good at getting me to try new things on the spot without letting me panic. He clearly doesn’t only care about his students performing well, but that they understand the music and are enjoying it as much as he does!
